Charles Russell "Russ" Hinesley, 84, of Defiance, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, April 22, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.  
  
He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on June 11, 1931 to Nathan and Dorothy (Wilmot) Hinesley. He attended Central High School in North Manchester, Indiana graduating in 1950. On  January 25, 1952 he married Doris Hudkins who survives.

Russ worked as a Inspector for GM Central Foundry in Defiance for 34 years retiring in 1986.  He served his country in The U.S. Navy  during the Korean Conflict from 1950- 1954.  Russ was a life member of the Defiance VFW Post #3360, a member of the Defiance American Legion Post #117, a charter and life member of the Defiance Moose Lodge #2094, and a life member of F.O.E.# 372. .
  
Russ is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Doris Hinesley of Defiance, daughter, Debra Hinesley of Farmer, son, David (Betty) Hinesley of Holgate, daughter, Kim (Matt) Wurster of Defiance, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Dorothy Hinesley, and a brother Jim Hinesley.
  
Visitation will be held Monday, April 25, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance where memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 11:00 am with Pastor Timothy G Reynolds, officiating.  Military Honors will be accorded by Defiance VFW Post #3360 following the memorial service at the funeral home.
  
Memorials are suggested to The American Heart Association, The Lung Association, or a charity of the donor's choice.
