Carolyn V. Willis, 77, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  
  
She was born on October 11, 1939 in Defiance, the youngest child of Anthony and Ruth (Ehrat) McCarthy in Defiance, Ohio. On September 20, 1970  she married Billy Willis, who resides in Defiance.
  
Carolyn was a member of  St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Defiance, where she was, for many years, a substitute organist. She had worked as secretary/receptionist at Northwest Ohio Private Industry Council, Grant Insurance Agency, and Stauffer Insurance Agency (currently First Insurance) in Defiance. She bowled in several leagues in the 70's, loved to crochet, play cards, work jigsaw puzzles, sing, and play games on the computer.
  
Carolyn is also survived by two daughters, Ruth Oelke and Rita (Charley) Bowling, two sons, James and John Willis, as well as four grandsons, Clayton, Colton, Carter, and Kyzer Bowling, all of Defiance. One sister,  Mrs. Rose (Gerald, dec.) Hanna of rural Defiance also survives her.
  
She was preceded in death by a son, David, her parents, five brothers; Phillip, Ernest, James, Robert, and an infant, four sisters; Barbara (Richard) Shinners, Mary McCarthy, Joan (Richard, dec.) Buchman, and Helen in infancy.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service scheduled at  2:00 pm  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 25, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
