Carolyn Jane "Caro" (Uetterling) Mansfield

Carolyn J. "Caro" Mansfield, 76, of Defiance, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, April 19, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
She was born on November 20, 1941 to Herbert and Alice (Peck) Uetterling in Defiance. On August 27, 1961 she married Gary H. Mansfield, who resides in Defiance. 

Caro was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a former director of the Children's Choir. She worked at Sears in the jewelry department, and for several years as a secretary at Isaac Corp. in Defiance until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing and making jewelry. Caro sold Lady Remington Jewelry and won several prizes and trips by being the top seller. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and especially her grandson Zachary, while he was growing up. 
  
Caro will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years, Gary Mansfield of Defiance, daughter, Michelle Mansfield of Continental, grandson, Zachary (Holly)  Westrick and great-granddaughter, Henley Westrick, all of Sylvania, brother, David (Judy) Uetterling of Defiance, and sister, Phyllis (Lawrence) Coats of Elmore, Ohio 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Patrick D. Mansfield.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 23rd at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Judy Williams officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mansfield Cemetery.
