Billie Joe Gallegos, 70, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Defiance Regional Medical Center in Defiance.  
  
He was born on February 6, 1945 to Jose and Mildred (Kirk) Gallegos in Waxahachie, Texas. On June 6, 1964 he married Susan Gallegos, who preceded him in death on February 3,  2010. Billie served his country as a Marine and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, from 1965 to 1969.  Billie retired from General Motors in 2004 after 42 years. He was a member of the Defiance Elks, VFW, and AmVets. Billie enjoyed woodworking.
  
Billie will be missed by his children, Pam (Tim) Parent of Columbia, Tennessee,  Deana (Todd) Weirich of Culleoka, Tennessee, Jeffery (Denise Kessler) Gallegos of Defiance, and Beatrice Olivarez of Dallas, Texas, 7 Grandchildren, sisters, Patricia (Jack) Singleton of Burleson, Texas, and Mary Alice (Michael) Allen of Burleson, Texas, brothers, Garry (Laura) Gallegos of Jackson, Tennessee, and Bobby (Patty) Lile of Summertown, Tennessee.  
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Susan Gallegos, and sister, Maggie Ruth Lile.
  
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date.
