Arturo  DeLeon, Sr., 73, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at The Toledo Hospital.   
  
He was born on November 25, 1943 to Jose and Gumecinda (Saenz) DeLeon in Weslaco, Texas. On November 26, 1963 he married Maria M.(Medrano) DeLeon, who resides in Defiance. 
  
Arturo was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He was a founding member of The Latin American Club in Defiance, and held various offices including President and Vice President. Arturo was the owner and operator of A & M Trucking, and also drove for F & K Trucking, Hornish Brothers, Mule Train Trucking, Cookie Carriers Trucking, and Freightway Trucking. Arturo was a friend to everyone, and will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
  
Arturo is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Maria M. DeLeon of Defiance, daughters, Maxine DeLeon of Defiance,and Irene Yvette (Rick) Colson of Vandalia, MO,  sons, Arturo DeLeon, Jr.and Leon DeLeon, both of Columbus, and Maximino DeLeon of Defiance, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers, Ramon (Abrana) DeLeon, Sr. of Pleasanton, TX, and Celedonio DeLeon of Stockton, CA. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Renato DeLeon,Sr., Gonzalo DeLeon, Reynaldo DeLeon, Sr., and Jose G. DeLeon, Jr., and sister, Eloisa Veloquio.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
  
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association, or American Heart Association.
