Alice M. Yant, 95, of Defiance, passed away on  Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  
  
She was born on May 2, 1921 to L.G. and Esther (Swartz) Robinson in Walbridge, Ohio. In 1940 she married O. LaVern Yant, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1987.
  
Alice was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, its Senior Group and Child Conservation League for 50 years. She owned and operated Rainbow Travel Agency, retiring in 2005. She also worked at Welch Travel, Zeller Corporation, and The Radio, all of Defiance. Alice was a member of  the Zonta Club for 31 years, and Defiance Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for 11 years.
  
Alice will be sadly missed by her family; daughters, Dorothy Kajani of Philadelphia, PA, Peggy (Robert) Thatcher of Evans, Georgia, and Pamela Sue (Michael) Seibenick of Defiance, sons, John (Terri) Yant of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert (Roxann) Yant of Hamilton, Indiana, and a daughter-in-law, Christine Yant of Oakwood, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a friend who was like a son to her, David Iliff of Kalida. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Richard Yant and Thomas Yant,  sisters, Lucille Sprow, Bonnie Robinson, and Betty Robinson, and brother, Loren Robinson of California.
  
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016  at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
